Vertical integration in distributed automation environment

چکیده
Over past decades industrial IT evolved separately in the field automation and office automation domains. Nowadays increasing complexity of manufacturing requiresmore advanced control, which can be achieved only by integrating these, formerly separated, areas. This article focuses on two aspects of such integration: communication-related, interconnecting networks of different kinds, and functional, establishing a link between business and manufacturing processes.

A Reference Architecture for Automation of Inter-Organizational Process-Oriented Collaboration
In today’s competitive, dynamic, and changing business environment, being able to collaborate globally within and beyond the enterprise borders is critical. Inter-Organizational Collaborations (IOCs) have been proposed as a response to the characteristics of highly competitive global business environments. So far, a number of reference models, frameworks, and ad hoc architectures related to som...

Mobility and reduction of industrial activity time is one of the major requirements raised to modern systems of automation. One of the most effective ways of achievement of this purpose is vertical integration with use of wireless technologies. The lab set – model of vertical integration for data gathering from the intellectual Profibus РА sensor, Profibus DP data transmission, controllers conf...
متن کاملThe Three Generations of Field-Level Networks - Evolution and Compatibility Issues
Field-level networks have been one of the keys to modern automation systems. Be it in factory, process, or building automation, networks allow for horizontal and vertical integration of distributed devices and functions. This paper reviews the evolution of field-level networks comprising fieldbus systems, industrial Ethernet, and recent industrial wireless networks. The main focus is on demonst...
متن کاملAn architecture and environment for decentralised, internet-wide software process modelling and enactment
Centralised client/server approaches to supporting software process modelling and enactment are common, but can suffer from serious robustness, performance and security problems. We describe a decentralised architecture for software process modelling and enactment, which also incorporates distributed work coordination, task automation and system integration facilities. Our environment based on ...
متن کاملDistributed Engineering Environment for the Design of Electronic Systems
Computer supported collaborative work (CSCW) is currently of growing interest for application industrial context. Integrated workflow systems are available to allow the integration of globally distributed teams. However, in many areas (i.e. in electronic design automation), tool integration remains to be a critical issue since existing legacy tools have to be integrated into distributed workflo...
